Nissan JUKE

This ad is for the Nissan JUKE. I found this ad on msn.ca.

I think that this ad is effective because it gives a drivers view of the inside of the car as its driving down the road. This get the consumer interested and keeps their interest.  It also has a call to action and when you click on the ad it takes you to a micro site that had a bunch of interactive options, such a building you own JUKE.

Finding Your Perfect Engagement Ring Just Got Easier

This is an ad for Tiffany’s. This ad is located at the bottom of your MSN chat window. Once you roll over it, it expands. If you click on the ad, it goes to the iTunes store and allows you to buy it. The ad is all about engagement rings. It lets you see what they would look like on your hand, what size you need, and also expert consultation.

Coca-Cola Iphone Case!

I was searching for interactive ads on Google and found this ad. This ad is for Coca-Cola and is on Yahoo Korea. I think this is an excellent example of interactive advertising because the ad is full of energy and grabs your attention. Once you open the Coke bottle lots of fun graphics pop up, and music also plays. Once the ad is almost over it takes over your screen and gives you the option to get a Iphone Coke case.
I also chose this ad because i am a huge coca-cola fan!

If you’re a Coca-cola fan, you should check this out!

Not So Effective Cozmo...

Ads that are placed near the bottom of the page I find to be ineffective. When people get to a page they usually find everything they are looking for in the top section, whether it be links to other parts of the site, or information in the first couple paragraphs. This ad was for Scope Outlast. It was placed near the bottom of the Cosmopolitan web site was also in the middle of the page. This ad was not that small, which you think that would make it stand out and catch your eye. But it looks like it is just part of the website and not an ad. When I was scrolling thought the main page of the site I scrolled right past that ad and didn’t even see it. It also does not help that the entire site is cover in a lot of pictures, so its hard to tell what is a picture for an article, and what is a picture for an ad unless you are really looking at it.  If Scope wanted to create an effective ad, they should have made a skyscraper near the top of the page, or made it a sync ad so it catches people eye.

take a look for your self and see if you can spot the Scope Outlast ad!

The Expandable Big Box

The expandable big box is also another one of my favorite type of web ads.  Let me explain what an expandable big box is. First of all, an expandable big box obviously expands. When you roll over the ad it expands to a larger picture.  It can either reveal more information about the product or show a video, and once you click on it will take you to the micro site of that product. When you roll off the ad it goes back to its original size.
I like this type of ad because it’s not too intrusive. The ad stays small and then becomes bigger once YOU choose to look at it.

Check out this example of an expandable big box ad that I found.

Get Flickr'in!!

Flickr is a site that allows you to create an account and upload photos that you have taken. It also allows you to browse other photos and make comments as well.

I wanted to share this site because to someone like me, who is interested in photography this site offers a lot. You can see what other people are taking pictures of, and get some ideas of you own. Up loading pictures is even easier than before. You can upload them straight from your mobile device or from your email.
Flickr is also similar to Facebook because it allows you to tag people and write captions on what you photo is.

To log on and view some beautiful pictures all you have to do is sign up.
Check it out!

Sync Ad? - It's the BEST Ad!!

In my opinion Sync Ads are the best types of web advertisements.
If you don’t know what a Sync ad is I’d be happy to explain.

A sync ad can come in many shapes and sizes, such as leader boards, sky scrapers, big boxes, etc. For example, there must be two types of boxes, and they must flow together. If you ads on the top of the page is for Nike, then your other ad must also be for Nike, and they must have a similar feel.
Right now in my Writing for the Web class we are creating sync ads. My partner and I have created an ad for Hellmann’s Mayo. Our idea is to have all the ingredients that are included in the mayo to drop down from a leader board and land in a big box off to the right.

I like creating these ads the best because you have so many options. You can make things drop down from the top of your page to the bottom or side. If you are making an ad for Chevy you can have you car drive across the screen at the top and end up in a big box at the side.

A great site to visit for all kinds of ads is Creative Zone. They have examples of ads in all kinds of categories. Check out some of these ads and let me know what your favorite kind of ad is.
